The Hernandez Dilema
|
It’s time to move Javier Hernandez on.
Neither Moyes or Bilic play to his strength and as a result, he’s next to useless.
Watching at Spurs and again today him chase down aimless balls or battle for balls in the air doesn’t enable him to do what he was bought in to do; score goals.
We play far too deep, so how is a poacher like him supposed to feed off opportunities when he’s hanging around the halfway line or out wide?
His frustration is as justified as ours, because he’s unable to adapt his game to the negative way we setup waiting to counter. In fact it almost seems cruel watching him run around like a headless chicken pressing the back line, or picking up balls in midfield only to lose them with his poor first touch, or pushed off the ball easily by larger players.
What drives me up the wall is that playing to his game would guarantee goals as it’s worked well enough for Manchester United and Bayer Leaverkausen respectively, and there’s no way he’s regressed that drastically since his last game for Bayer at Hertha Berlin last season (I was there.)
Moyes knows what he’s capible of and it doesn’t match his vision, so drop him and flog him.
Watching him today was painful (as were others), but his particular uselessness isn’t a lack of desire, it’s poor management.

he needs service, something that is impossible with Moyes putting nine men behind the ball. the dwarf cunts need to spend some fucking money or employ a more positive manager

You summed it up in your post i think, Moyes doesn’t like him or he doesn’t believe he suits his teams style & played the way he is makes him as redundant as AC when we can’t get a decent cross in for him. Think it’s clear Moyes won’t change team to suit the pea so best for all concerned he’s moved on. Real shame as most teams would love him & play to his obvious strengths & he’s guarantee double fugures for most teams. We were in the Shrews box 4 times today..he didn’t stand a chance of scoring!

The only striker worth retaining amongst our current three, is Carroll, because anyone else is pretty redundant with the style we play.
We have gone backwards as s football club. But hey, we might stay in the Premier League.

the worrying thing about Moyes is I remember towards the end of his Everton time when he'd use Felaini as withdrawn forward and just punt the ball up hoping he'd win headers and someone would get on the end of the flick on. I honestly can't remember any striker playing great for Everton while he was there?

I was discussing the Premier League with a fellow WHOer on Tuesday and my lack of care for the division.
Substance, entertainment and desire are what I want to see, a bit like Shrewsbury showed us today.
Moyes definitely isn’t the long term option, but you know the fucking wankers that run this club will opt for Moyes as long as we reach our target of remaining in the division, which keeps their coffers full.
I can’t forgive Moyes for the league cup game and I can’t abide negative Football as it’s the antithesis of what the game is about.

I'm afraid he's simply not suited to the type of football we play. I actually think he'd do well for most premier league sides bar us, as we seem to be the poorest side with regards to passing accuracy pace and possession, and that's what players like Hernandez thrive on. Give him the ball in the box, on the floor and he'll do the business. I think he's had enough judging by his body language and will be off this window. Moyes didn't fancy him at Utd, as Moyes likes a big target man like Carrol.

Who is going to pay him the same wages as we do?
That's a rhetorical question, by the way.

The common theme in regards to Hernandez is poor management.
Sellling him, at least to a rival in the league would be stupid but oh so typically West Ham.
Take a major goal scoring threat, moved to a team that can accommodate his strengths and he scores goals.
Only at West Ham United can the life be sucked out of an instinctive predator for a football philosophy that is everything the Premier League supposedly isn’t!

Also I think also we've seem Hernadez totally isolated both against Spurs and Shrewsbury, and in both games we've been missing our two most creative players, so maybe there lies part of the problem. No need to write him off based on those two games.

I'd like to see him up top with Arnie, but Moyes seems reluctant to do this.

Some people like to enjoy their work, and it's not as if he's going to be on the minimum wage at any club apart from West Ham

I thought he look unfit, did not chase much for the ball, as Martinez did or as Arnautovic does when he plays. Then his passing in tight spaces was not much good, needs to train on that. Give me the impression he is not working hard in training to get to his peak and into the team.

Re: The Hernandez Dilema

He's rusty and not sharp enough but aside from that we need to turn from a team that just lumps it forward or runs it wide and hoofs into the box to one which can control midfield and slide the ball through to him in the box where he is at his best. Until we get a better midfield he is wasted and only going to lose confidence.

He is a goal poacher, needs a ball to run on to or to feed off loose balls in the box.
Our game right now is a mix of sitting back and trying to counter attack or play long balls to a big man. Clearly neither suit him.

He has been fucking dogshit regardless of him being a 'poacher' he can barely pass to a team mate who's 5 yards away at the moment. No excuses for that.
